"Stand And Deliver" January 2008
Produced & Directed by Anne Fowler Choreographer: James Sygrove
A brilliant opening – excellent choreography of UV lit ‘hands’, with good sharp execution from everyone.
It was good to see another panto written by Jim Fowler, which was different to the norm, and which gave all the cast a chance to have a part, however small.
I particularly liked Gemma Ferguson’s portrayal of the slightly stupid Horace – which she did exceedingly well, and Rory White (Gilbert) also gave a good performance. Francesca Gosling (Swift Nick) was a suitably swash-buckling highwayman.
The choreography of the second main dance number was also very strong, and well-rehearsed, something that has previously not been one of TADS strengths, so it was great to see.
The lighting and scenery were minimal, but in keeping with the feel of the piece.
The diction of all the cast was excellent throughout, and the only thing lacking was pace; I felt the action and lib were a little slow in some places, which tended to level out the dramatic tension. However, that said, it was most amusing and a nice start to the 2008 panto season for the audience, who had a whale of a time.
