"Rumpled Beauty" by Marcus Grollman, December 2007

Tads Teens Production, Directed by Rachel Birks

TADS Teens always give us an enjoyable production, although I understand this one had its fair share of problems! – having said that, the youngsters pulled of a good show, and there were a number of very good performances from this enthusiastic cast.  I was a little perturbed by the pulling of the tabs between each scene – it wasn’t really necessary as the scene changes were minimal, and it tended to cut the action, which didn’t give the production flow.

The Narrators delivered their lines well, and all the cast had good clear diction, although some tended to gabble their words, which made it difficult to understand at times.  Andy Sear (King Humphrey) and Jordan Nicholls (Prime Minister) were my favourites amongst the lads, although Sean Tierney (Count de Money) sparkled in the small part he had.  Of the girls I liked Laura McSkeane (Cindy-Ella White),  Kerryn Fleet-Chapman (Hortense) and Paige Kempton (Agatha) – these three had good diction and facial expression, and really acted their parts well.

Some of the newer members of the cast just need more confidence and enthusiasm injected into their performances, but I am always pleased to see youngsters on stage and enjoying what they do. A fun evening, with good lighting and colourful costumes – well done again TADS Teens.
